Definitions of Pronouns: Grade 6 English Entrance Exam
A pronoun is a small word that takes the place of a noun (a person, place, animal, or thing). We use pronouns so we donโt have to repeat the same noun again and again.
Without pronouns:
Riya went to the market. Riya bought apples because Riya likes apples.
With pronouns:
Riya went to the market. She bought apples because she likes them.
See how much smoother the second one sounds?
